When to use the 1MB target
1MB is the most forgiving common cap. It comfortably accommodates colour scans, multi-page contracts with embedded fonts, and reports with charts. Digitol Tools will compress as little as necessary to land under 1MB.
The compression strategy
For most files, only the lossless pass is needed at 1MB — no rasterization, perfect text. For very large scans, a single low-strength rasterization pass usually does it without visible quality loss.
